From January to July, China's electricity consumption rose 4.6 percent year on year



Data released by the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) on Aug. 16 showed that electricity consumption rose 4.6 percent year on year in the first seven months of this year, with four provinces (autonomous regions) achieving double-digit growth of more than 10 percent.

According to the National Development and Reform Commission, the country's electricity generation grew by 3.0% year-on-year in the first seven months of this year, 0.3 percentage points slower than in the first six months of this year.Among them, thermal power, hydropower, nuclear power, wind power and solar power grew by 0.1%, 10.7%, 22.2%, 5.1% and 12.1% respectively.Power generation grew 0.6 percent in July from a year earlier, down 2.2 percentage points from the previous month.

In terms of electricity consumption, from January to July, the whole society used 4.1 trillion kWh of electricity, an increase of 4.6 percent year on year.Among them, primary, secondary and tertiary production and household electricity consumption continued to grow rapidly.In terms of regions, 28 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the central government are enjoying positive growth in electricity consumption, with four of them achieving double-digit growth of over 10%.In July, electricity consumption rose 2.7 percent year on year, 2.8 percentage points slower than the previous month.
